Longtime PGWA fans know that Candi Divine never gave anything less than her all in the ring. Now, the
PGWA is asking fans to help give to her.
Candi's partner of 17 years, Tom Burton, recently passed away at the too-young age of 46, the victim of
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In addition to dealing with her loss, Candi is also responsible
for a great many bills, and frankly the expenses are simply too much for her to handle alone.
That is why the PGWA is turning to Candi's many fans. Our relationship with Candi goes back all the
way to our very beginning; she was one of the very first wrestlers to work with the PGWA at our founding
in 1992, and she continued to step into our ring for many years after that. In 2008, Candi was a special
guest at our "A Banner Night" live card in Millersville, Tennessee, where she was awarded the
Penny Banner Spirit of Excellence Award.
Candi debuted as a teenaged phenom in the early 1980's, going on to become one of the best-known ladies
in the sport. Among her many championship accomplishments was winning the AWA Women's Title no less
than three times. In 1994 she was honored by the Cauliflower Alley Club for her accomplishments and her
contributions to the sport of wrestling.
Tom Burton was well known to fans both across the United States as well as in Japan as 'Dirty White Boy' Tom Davis,
working for the WWF, WCW, USWA, and a host of independent organizations.
Any contribution which you could make to Candi at this very trying time for her would be deeply appreciated.
